The design for these pendants came out of an intensely personal workshop with Connie Fox, an artist whose work I have long admired, and my ongoing fascination with the importance and value of our internal lives.
I create these pieces by over-texturing sterling silver with patterns based on nature, stressing the metal to create random cracks and fissures. Each piece is then embellished with pure 24k gold foil, using an ancient Korean technique known as keum boo, and elevated in a prong setting to reveal a tiny gemstone and 18k gold pebbles tucked away underneath. The resulting slide pendant makes no attempt to hide either the marks of its creation or the treasure it contains, a metaphor for the permission we give one another to celebrate our true selves.
Roughly 1-1/2 across, this pendant was handcrafted in my Texas studio. It features a genuine 4mm Citrine and is one-of-a-kind. Ready to ship with your choice of 16″, 18″ or 20″ sterling silver wire collar.
