UPDATE (2/8/2013): As of Friday afternoon, there are only FIVE spots left for this retreat. We are so thrilled that people are excited to join us for this fun-filled week. If you’re thinking about coming, don’t take your time to register – the spots are going fast!

My good friend Melissa Muir and I came up with an idea late last fall to host a metalworking retreat sometime this year. We were lamenting the fact that while we have been online friends for a while now, and have skyped and visited by phone, we’ve never actually had the opportunity to share studio time together. And that’s true for a lot of other online friends, too – people I have very much enjoyed getting to know but have never been able to play around in the metal with in person.
Well, we put out some feelers before Christmas and asked who might be up for a week in the Pacific Northwest to just spend time with other metalworking artists, sharing what we know, engaging in some good-natured challenges, and trying new techniques and experimenting with old ones in the company of new friends. The response was huge – lots of people said they’d be interested in coming. So Melissa and I set out to see if we could make it happen.
I am thrilled – and a little scared – to announce that we did it. We’ve rented a large, beautiful house in Trout Lake, Washington (an hour and a half outside of Portland, Oregon) for a full week in early September and we’re hoping to fill it with as many artist friends as we can.
So if you’re interested in coming along, please check out the website we’ve set up for the retreat for information about registering. We are so excited and looking forward to a terrific time filled with laughter, creativity, and new friends!

AWESOME! If it is even half the success of the East Coast Jewelry Artists Network Retreat, then you are in for a GREAT time!

Room for a jewelry designer to work with the metal you all create? I LOVE me some good metal … LOL
